Things that have been agreed on:
1. Reapers were once human
-Most had a traumatic mortal death (?) before being selected as a reaper.
2. Lauren's Will headcanon punches everyone in the feels.
3. Humanity and reaperdom
However, at graduation, the truth behind their existence is revealed. They are informed of what they used to be and that the choice they made regarding their own death is what brought them into this new life. This is when each young reaper is required to view his/her own cinematic record. They are informed that being a reaper is essentially akin to being in purgatory and if they wish to pass on to the next plain of existence, they have to learn to respect and appreciate the value of a human life.
But of course, this lesson cannot be learned so easily! Once shown their cinematic record, a reaper will be plagued with the memories of their mortal life. They will also be forced to watch the cinematic records of countless other mortals; seeing others lives who were perhaps even more tragic than their own, some who's ended abruptly and perhaps horribly, and others who lived to the fullest. It is not an easy road for them, and very few are granted that final prize that they strive for. Most are slowly driven mad.
4. Some laws may have been implemented because of Grell
Like everyone's right to par-tay.
5. Work shifts
Reapers either work on call and are usually assigned cases depending on demand. The Board sends assignments, consults with Will regarding assignments. Upon completion of reap, agent is required to submit a post-mission report. Reapers are paid fairly well.
