[ No one questioned anything when William suddenly left his office that morning. "I've been called to a meeting" was all the information he gave the rest of Dispatch. To them, it wasn't surprising, seeing as he was the head of the department. For William, however, the summoning came with zero notice. As he made his way to the upper managements' offices, all he could wonder was what issue his subordinates caused that he'd have to clean up after, this time.

It wasn't until lunch break that William returned to Dispatch. The others expected they'd get reprimanded for something, but William remained quiet, his face expressionless as he closed the door to his office. ]

I certainly feel more at ease than I ever had as a reaper.

[ And then he's quiet for a bit, thinking over everything he's been through, both present and long in the past. It's long enough that Grell may have thought he'd drifted to sleep. But eventually his voice sounds again, soft and contemplative. ]

Perhaps it's good that the sorrow doesn't go away entirely.

[ Indeed, she had, but her affections had never ceased - her hand merely stills for a moment, as she takes in those words. ]

Oh? [ She smiles, for she agrees - and yet, she can't help but inquire further. ] Why is that, mn?

I would hate to look back on it all and smile, as if it was all okay and never hurt. It would be dishonest, and almost mocking.

[ There's an exhausted sounding sigh. ]

Or do I sound foolish?

[ An interesting way to put it. Grell hums. ]

I don't think it's dishonest to acknowledge that you've changed; however, I do think it's important to face that sorrow and mold it into strength.

That is what I'm hoping to achieve.

[ He's already made vast improvements. But apparently he's not fully satisfied with his progression. ]

I believe you've done quite well with it.

[ Grell's tone is flattered and playfully confident, but her amused breath lulls into a sigh! ]

Yet, from what I understand, I'm also quite mad - and still very much a reaper!

Not to mention your morals are highly confrontational as far as Heaven is concerned.

[ Feeling an upturn in his mood, he rolls off of Grell's chest, laying on his back beside her. His hand finds hers and he grips it firmly. ]

[ Ah, she can't help but chuckle- and though she looks a bit disappointed when he parts from her, having his hand appeases her quite nicely.

Shifting down beside him a bit more comfortably, she rests her head against his. ]

I'm just too fun.

[ She tilts her head to glance at him with a playful grin. ]

But, as you see, you're incredible in ways that I'll never be. Somewhere along the line, my sanity buckled under the weight of that sorrow. I don't wish to be different-- well, I take that back. [ She snerks. ]

You are different in every conceivable way.

[ He sounds exasperated by that fact, but then again, he's still laying there making no attempt to separate himself from it. ]

Honestly, I'm not certain how I would feel if you suddenly started acting "normal".

[ The redhead seems to realise this, as she moves to entwine her fingers with his. ]

Oh, I don't think I'd ever change who I am. It's merely those few little alterations to what I am that I've in mind! You know.

I believe altering your entire physical gender is far more than a little.

[ Just thinking on the idea has him perplexed on how it could even be done. ]

Honestly, just promise me you will wait patiently until medical science can do the job correctly. I wouldn't trust any practices we have now to it.

Oh, goodness, no. I anticipate that I'll need to wait at least another hundred years... [ A heavy sigh! ] But it makes little sense to do it unless I'll have what matters most.

[ Seemingly confused as to what that refers to, William gives her a questioning frown. ]

[ The silence prompts Grell to glance his way, and she merely blink at him for a moment, as though it should be completely obvious! ]

The ability to carry child, silly.

[ Ah, he should have known, yes. ]

The parts, so to speak, mean nothing if you can't bear children as a reaper. Unless you can overcome that somehow, then you may as well remain as you are.

[ Ah, yes. How to overcome that, indeed. Grell's gaze lowers, her grip upon his hand weaker. ]

Mm. But. I've got to keep hope.

[death_glare]

[ He regrips her hand tighter. ]

Don't you dare go making a deal with a demon over this.

[ And he sounds SO serious. ]

[ With a half-hearted chuckle, her hand curls in his with the faintest effort of a squeeze. ]

Please, Will. You must give me more credit than that.

[death_glare]

Good. Though I'm certain you'd love that brat Phantomhive's demon and myself fighting over you.

[ He automatically regrets saying so, as the idea already puts a horrid taste in his mouth. ]

[ After a moment of absolute silence, in which the image plays through her mind, she inhales a long and drawn out gasp. ]

Ooooooooohhh--! Angel versus demon in the world of man, fighting over the fate of a condemned woman carrying innocent life!

[ Her free hand sweeps dramatically into the empty air above them! Clearly, that's lifted her spirits. ]

[ William pinches the bridge of his nose before rubbing his fingers over his forehead and temples. ]

Must you?

[ Crooning with amusement, Grell rolls onto her side to face him, hand tucking beneath his arm to hug it against her chest, and mouth nestled against his shoulder. ]

Truly? I'd much rather assist you in shredding him into glistening red ribbons♥.

[ She'll get a side-eye. ]

[ Her lips split into a piercing grin. ]

Precisely.

[ His eyes turn away, looking up to the ceiling instead. ]

I suppose I wouldn't be opposed to that. Especially now, being an angel.
