William dropped down from his horse. It had been a long ride - from London straight down to the southern coast of England. But he'd barely stopped, only doing so when his horse refused to go further without rest and water. But each time, William did little more than tap his foot anxiously, trying to focus on anything but his thoughts of what happened the day before.
But now that he'd arrived, there was nothing else to distract him. The horse was forgotten as he walked towards where the English Channel extended out to what seemed like eternity. With the thick fog of the early morning, there was no telling just what was out there. William's breath was shaky as his gaze then drifted down. Beachy Head, a beautiful site for some, with the tall cliff towering over the shore line below. But for him, this day, it was his enemy - or perhaps his closes friend. Whichever the case, he was terrified.

[ He speaks just as softly and takes Grell's hand. She's pulled along to the bed where he gently climbs beneath the blankets. ]
no subject
I'm glad you came. It's awful, being exhausted but incapable of sleeping.
no subject
Hopefully this will help.
[ The blankets are tucked tightly around them, keeping the cold air of the old room out and their shared body heat in. His arms wrap about her shoulders before he places a kiss against her forehead. ]
no subject
I know it will.
[ Slinking her arms about his waist, she seems to be drifting-- until she mutters sleepily. ]
Will... I've been thinking...
no subject
[ Her words rouse him from drifting off, as well. ]
no subject
Why haven't we made love?
no subject
Because I am nervous, if I'm to be honest.
no subject
[ Idly, her fingers wind into his shirt. ]
What of, specifically?
no subject
Pleasing you. I've very little experience and I don't want you to be disappointed, considering how much you've wanted it to happen between us. I'd hate for you to have given me more credit in your fantasies than I am capable of.
no subject
Oh, my darling... My disappointment would be if I never had the chance to share that with you. [ Her voice is just as soft. ]
no subject
Then, I promise you, our first night in France will be our moment to share.
no subject
I'd like nothing more.
[ And she'll seal that promise with a kiss! ]

And then, a half hour before noon, there's a loud banging on her door.
' 'ey! It's well past checkout! C'mon now!'
Heart nearly punding out of her chest, Grell scrambles upright - and upon registering those words, looks back at William with dread. ]
I-- I'm sorry, I overslept! I'll be right down to check out!
no subject
I think you will need to check out first. It will give me a chance to gather my own things while their occupied with you.
no subject
Love you. [ She whispers before cracking open the door to peek out. ]
no subject
Did the owner say anything to you?
no subject
Oh yes, he had a lot to say. I told him that you hadn't been feeling well the previous day and must've been getting some fresh air, slipped him a bit extra, and it seemed to do some good.
[ After helping William situate his bag, she climbs her way up to the front of the cart. ]
You?
no subject
[ Straight faced, giving the man nothing to go on. William takes his place next to Grell and they head on their way. ]
I will need to be more careful. That was foolish of me to fall asleep in your room.
no subject
While I do agree that we ought to be more careful, I don't think it foolish.
no subject
[ He keeps his eyes on the pathway, but he can practically feel the pout she's giving him. ]
no subject
Often times, I find it's the imperfections that make us better for who we are. [ She shoots him a little smile. ] Certainly better lovers.
no subject
[ He may forever be unsure of his abilities to be a lover, but it's really what Grell thinks, after all. ]
no subject
[ Leaning back just so, she props her feet up. ]
I've been very pleased, and will continue to be so, just as long as I have you there with me.
no subject
[ He gives up one of the reins to take her hand. ]
