[ No one questioned anything when William suddenly left his office that morning. "I've been called to a meeting" was all the information he gave the rest of Dispatch. To them, it wasn't surprising, seeing as he was the head of the department. For William, however, the summoning came with zero notice. As he made his way to the upper managements' offices, all he could wonder was what issue his subordinates caused that he'd have to clean up after, this time.

It wasn't until lunch break that William returned to Dispatch. The others expected they'd get reprimanded for something, but William remained quiet, his face expressionless as he closed the door to his office. ]

[ With a hum of agreement, William leans away from her intimate nuzzling to grab the comforter draped along the bottom half of the bed. Even with the wine he's found himself slightly cool - being fully nude probably doesn't help. He opens the blanket up, tucking it around their legs and up to their laps. ]

[ Grell reaches out to grab the open wine bottle to top their glasses off, before she snuggles down with her head atop his shoulder, nursing her cup. ]

Now, I always had a vision of having a cute little cottage just outside of the city, with a beautiful garden for my children to play in, and a cute fluffy dog to watch over them...

You're a dog person?

[ This surprises him substantially as he couldn't imaging Grell letting a dog jump on her and lick her face. The image of her freaking out over a puppy ruining her make up is actually rather amusing and he lifts his glass to hide any smirk that may try to show itself. ]

Why wouldn't I be? They're loving and faithful and wonderful... although, they rarely like me... [ Sadly, she deflates against him a bit with a pout. ]

Are you going to annoy me until I bring home a puppy?

[untodeath]

[ Looking to him with widely innocent eyes, she blinks. ]

I hadn't thought to ask, but-- [ NOW THAT HE'S MENTIONED IT... ]

Raising a little bundle of love together would be a dream... [ Her voice becomes dreamy as her gaze drifts off, just envisioning it!! ]

[death_glare]

[ William pinches at the bridge of his nose as he realizes just what he's done. ]

No.

What? [ Mouth agape, she sits up to look back at him with great offence! ]

But you basically offered! You swell my heart with affection and then shatter it? Brute.

[death_glare]

I wasn't offering. I was preparing myself for a potential headache from your nagging.

I'd also mentioned a house and children, you know.

[ FROWN. ]

It should be a big dog.

[death_glare]

Don't give me criteria for something you won't be getting.

[ FROWN BACK. ]


And, we don't have enough money for a house and you should know the answer to the other.

That's why you make goals, Will! They come later--!

[ She looks away with a short little huff. ]

You never know what may be possible then.

[death_glare]

Then you won't mind the wait.

[ He takes down the last of his wine, setting the glass aside on the night stand. ]

You're far more optimistic than I am.

[untodeath]

[ She peeks back over her shoulder at him with something of a leer. ]

Now, I never said that.

[ Though, her expression softens to something a bit more serious. ]

Nor would I say optimistic... That I romanticize, perhaps? Put it into the universe and it shall be, as they say.

That sounds more like you. Short-term goals, then. Do you have any of those? Something a bit more obtainable.

[untodeath]

[ Though she rolls her eyes at his choice of wording, she eases back against him. ]

Hmn... A goal for the near future... [ She suddenly looks at him, eyes alight, as though it's only just hit her. ] A puppy.

[death_glare]

[ She immediately gives her the type of stern glare he'd always set aside just for her. ]

The dog was part of the long term goals.

That's the beauty of personal goals!

[ She says, quite confidently! ]

They're flexible! Yours to change.

[death_glare]

Well then I am changing it back to long term.

[ He's considering a glass refill at this point! ]

[untodeath]

[ Mouth agape, she looks positively affronted! ]

As in, one's own! You can't change my goals!

[death_glare]

I can when they directly effect me.

[ Unfortunately the bottle has been fully emptied. So instead, he's plucking her glass from her hand and pouring half of it into his own. ]

[untodeath]

[ The reaper scoffs at this, but she doesn't actually fight it, merely watching while upturning her now-empty palm with offense and disbelief. ]

Tyrant.

[death_glare]

[ The glass is replaced in her hand rather forcefully as he enjoys a sip from his own. ]

You enjoy it, so don't complain.

[untodeath]

I'm afraid you'll have to make me.

[ Although she will briefly stop - despite saying so - so that she can down a drink of her wine before William has the chance to help himself to the rest of it. ]

[ He downs the rest of, what is now his wine, then sets the glass aside once more. ]

I've just thought of a short term goal for myself.

[ He muses before removing his arm from around her and shifting down to curl up under the thick blankets. ]
