Technology in the reaper realm always advanced much quicker than in the mortal world. How that was possible wasn't made quite clear, but every employee would have to agree that it made the job far more tolerable and almost manageable. Before they knew it, fancy new machines were showing up in their cubicles and offices. Large ones that could transfer writing from one sheet to countless others. An extremely convenient electronic typewriter that made the organization of files far more streamlined. And now, their newest administered device which allowed them to communicate between departments and even branches without having to travel. They called it a 'cellular phone.'

[ Alright, this is too odd. For perhaps the first time, William is feeling like he's made a positive impact on someone. Like he's finally done something right, even if he'd been unaware of it. And perhaps that's even better, that it was coming naturally.

After quite a lot of consideration, he decides to reciprocate Grell with a photo of his own. Not at all racy like the one she sent him earlier, but far more meaningful. It's apparent he's lying in the hotel bed, propped up against the headboard and in that comfortable, black t-shirt he'd spoke of. And though it maybe be subtle, there's the faintest hint of a smile on his lips. A text follows quickly after the image. ]

Do not make me regret sending you that photograph.

[ Grell draws a sharp breath, and while she would normally squeal in delight, it's that smile which draws her into a long silence, eyes soaking in the sight.

It's immediately saved and set to her lock screen. So, he's going to regret it, eventually! ]

Most of the time you address me it seems to be in your own interest, not mine.

So, you're saying that actively pursuing you for very nearly two-hundred years isn't convincing enough.

No, I am positively convinced of your adoration for me.
My point is that you come across as not having any interest in finding out what I find pleasing, and instead push your own desires upon me hoping that I will give in and give you the response you want.

Without provoking, you don't give much of a response, at all.
It's worrying, actually.
A shame, that my intentions have come across such a way.

[ It's a bit bittersweet. She had been so elated, but now, she can't help but feel weighted down by how she's - again! - responsible for her setbacks these past two centuries! She's so good at dodging any sense of responsibility or regret, but when it catches up, it's a real punch in the gut. ]

Well, perhaps that, while I had fallen in love with An, my heart still ached for you.
I had hesitated to approach her.
But I had told myself that, if our friendship hit that century milestone, and you still hadn't reciprocated my love, I would attempt to move on.
And it had been a decade past that, even still.
Either way, it was a mistake.
