[ Graduating from the reaper academy was nothing to brag about. Sure you gained some skills and were granted permission to customize your glasses and scythe, but beyond that, all that was in the newly trained reapers' future was tedious, unavoidable work encased within long nights of depression and regret. Unlike mortal graduations that were followed by celebration, reapers were informed of how they came to be, what was expected of them, should they wish to redeem themselves, and then shown their personal cinematic records. Forced to relive the pain of their mortal lives. To say it's a traumatic experience is a vast understatement.

William stands alone in his newly assigned, permanent flat. It's barely furnished, with just the essentials, no life or personality to be seen. All that's playing through his mind is his record. A horrific thing to rewatch, certainly, but somehow it was made more painful by a fear that had been newly established. He's suddenly feeling sick from the thoughts and has to exit the apartment to collect himself. Glancing up, he sees a brief flicker of bright red at the end of the hall, and before he can stop himself he's following after it. ]

[ The longer she holds him the more his body relaxes. Shoulders slowly becoming less tense. His voice is a bit muffled against her shoulder. ]

I would enjoy it if we fell asleep this way.

[ Grell hums. ]

This is certainly not what I anticipated. [ A small snerk. ] Yet, I wouldn't mind.

I already told you there will be no sex.

[ He can only assume that's what she was hoping for. ]

[ That only makes her chuckle more! ]

[ Is hard to sound icy cold when he's so warm and comfortable. ]

[ She nuzzles into his hair! ]

[ He hums approvingly and her nuzzling. ]

Honestly, you are an odd one.

[ A chuckle! Though, it might just be the slightest bit sleepy! This is too relaxing... ]

I suppose we're a fit pair, then.

Because I am devastatingly mundane in comparison?

[ He doesn't make any effort to disprove it, as if he's just accepted it by this point. ]

[ Ah, yes, her lashes are fluttering to a close, now. Even so, that doesn't keep her from quipping back! ]

Quite the opposite, actually. I find you more interesting than anyone else I've met, anyway...

[ He hums with a bit of curiosity, despite his eyes feeling heavy. ]

You're unfazed by me, for one - but you don't seem bothered by anyone else, either.

[ A short chuckle, as she nuzzle at his hair one last time before her body relaxes into his entirely. It seems they really are staying that way, after all. ]

Your thoughts and opinions are entirely your own, which I believe offers a refreshingly unique perspective.

I don't have a reason to care what others might think.

[ With a short huff he shifts his weight slightly. ]

I suppose you've changed that slightly.

[ That has her lips twinging into a smile. ]

Is that right?

I came to you for comfort so your input must mean something to me.

[ He almost sounds irritated by this, but he isn't showing any interest in getting up. ]

[ She's trying not to seem SO obviously thrilled, but she can't deny the fluttering in her chest. ]

I'm a lucky lady, then, aren't I?

I suppose, if that's what you would look at my affection as.

[ With the way he's tilted his head, she can feel his breath against her neck. ]

[ It has Grell tensing just so, as a shiver runs up her spine. It feels divine. ]

I do. [ And she hums with delight, twirling a strand of his hair between her fingertips. ]

I may not understand why, but it feels good to know.

[ A deep breath and hes drifting off. ]

I might have an idea.

[ She presses a kiss atop his head, before nestling down into the pillows. ]

[ It's quite early in the morning when William wakes. The sun has barely begun to peek over the horizon. With the dim lighting and his glasses set aside, William can't quite see Grell, but he can feel her warmth as she holds him. It's odd but comfortable and he almost decides to slip back to sleep. ]

Sutcliffe?

[ Instead he utters her name quietly, merely a signal that he's woken. ]

[ Heaving a sleepy sigh, she hums in response. It takes her a moment before she can respond coherently, mind blanketed in the comfort of his embrace. ]

Yes?

Just curious if you had woken yet.

[ Reluctantly, William pushes back from her, rolling onto his back and stretching briefly. ]

[ A sleepy groan of protest! ]

Good morning to you, too...

[ Now, she's cold! She rolls onto her stomach to compensate, cheek smooshed into the pillow as she stares off with a sleepy blink. ]

Have you any coffee, by chance?

One of the few things I've purchased.

[ But he's not making any effort to get up and make some. ]
