[ Brows knitting, a frown sets onto her lips as takes a gulp of tea, turning her attention out the window. Saying something like that while they were out, "not on a date" that is totally a date! He may have actually... hurt her feelings??? ]
[ Eyes snapping pack to him, Grell inhales, pointedly setting her cup down! ]
What I'm acting like? [ She leans in, just short of raising her voice, but surprisingly maintaining some foresight not to. Maybe it's just the drama of a hushed anger that she's after. ] You're the one sending mixed signals-- doing things like asking me to be patient with you, then saying-- that.
No, I don't understand. Perhaps you should explain to me before you start giving me an attitude.
[ He's standing up, though, apparently having made up his mind on where this non-date was going. He digs a few sickles from his pocket and places them on the table. ]
[ With a roll of the eyes, she turns to stand on her feet, as well, hands brushing down the sides of her coat to smooth it flat. Her tone is just as huffy, despite his suggestion. ]
Your affairs are none of my business, so why would educating you be? [ Flicking back her hair, she turns to make her way out, chin up! ]
[ William would feel bad if he didn't believe Grell was solely at fault for the entire argument. So he lets her storm out, actually sitting back down to finish his tea before he leaves himself.
The next series of days is surprisingly quiet for him, so much so that he figures he better relish the moment as Grell's sure to come clinging to him at any time. ]
[ Unfortunately - or fortunately, depending how you look at it - such wasn't really the case. Grell has been more than a little distracted, one can see, as she is walking someone else to class! In fact, it's that very same Beater that's taken William's place on Slytherin's Quidditch team.
Arm looped about the young woman's waist, Grell leans in to kiss her cheek at the door-- to which her gesture is returned with an ass grab from the other! The redheads both part with giggles, and she's so merrily flustered that she collides straight into... ]
Oh! William!
[ She places a hand over his chest to right herself, brushing a hand through her hair and looking a little sheepish. ]
[ The sight certainly stops William in his tracks. First with a huff that he'll be pounced on, then in confusion at the actual sight he's being witness to. Honestly, he's not quite certain if Grell being oblivious of his presence or Angelina being accepting, and actually reciprocating the Gryfindor's affections causes him more confusion.
When she finally notices him, Grell will catch his eyes stay on the girl before they snap to her. ]
I see you've stopped complaining about my replacement.
[ Oh, of course he's more keen on the sight of Angelina. There's a flare of jealousy in her chest, and she can't decide whether it's because he should be so blatantly concerned over another girl, after everything, or if it's because he's chosen to look at that particular one! ]
Even I couldn't resist. An is just lovely, isn't she?
[ No, she will instead choose to feel validated by these turn of events! ]
Rather, I might complain that you didn't think to introduce us sooner.
If I'd known she would take your attention off of me, then I would have gladly done so.
[ He doesn't know Angelina all that well, but something inside him is saying this new pair up could go in a bad direction. That or he's feeling jealous. But for the sake of his own pride and sanity, he'll just assume it's the first option. ]
[ Ah, typicaaal. Grell shakes her head with a scoff. Gathering herself up a little taller, she shifts to move past him, but not before patting his cheek. ]
Better now than never, mn? You should be quite happy.
[ All he receives is another chuckle as she walks away - and he wouldn't see her again for another couple days. Certainly, they shared some classes together, and inevitably crossed paths, but he wouldn't receive more than a wink of acknowledgement when she wasn't positively absorbed in whatever else she was up to.
Until one morning, in which Grell wordlessly wiggles her way onto the banquet bench to William's right... and Angelina, to his left. She begins to help herself to some of the juice, but not before preparing a glass for her lady, first! ]
[ William has to pause mid bite when Grell is suddenly next to him. He's about to give her a bitter dismissal when he feels another body slide uncomfortably close to his other side. He stiffens, watching the orange juice being passed around with a deepening frown.
He has no doubt this has some sort of ulterior motive behind it, hence his ignoring of Ann's greeting. ]
[ As for Grell, she's entirely unfazed by the nature of William's reply. In fact, she seems to find it as entertaining as it's ever been. With a chuckle, she reaches into the inner pocket of her blazer, unfolding a piece of paper. ]
I don't suppose you've made any plans yet, have you, darling?
[ And it appears to be a student flyer advertising the upcoming ball that she sets out on the table for William to see. ]
[ The paper is only glanced at briefly before William returns to eating his eggs. He's seen them around for a good week now. All the girls he passed seemed to be giggling over what they'd wear and who they were hoping would ask them. Likewise, the boys were talking in their bunks before bed about how secretly nervous they were to ask, but wouldn't of course show that outside of the dorm.
He takes his time chewing and drinking his tea before he answers. ]
Yes. I'll be taking advantage of the empty dorm and sleeping early.

I highly doubt that-- [ Closing her eyes with a sniff, she stirs some sugar into her tea VERY thoroughly. ] but we'll see.

Don't go attacking her because of this. On or off the Quiditch pitch.

[ Great. Why did he have to go and steer the conversation this way? ]

[ Forgive the poor boy, he has no relationship experience. ]
And I doubt she has any interest in me, so stop being jealous over nothing.
no subject
[ With a tick of the tongue, she sits back, arms crossed over her waist. ]
If you don't understand what was so upsetting, perhaps we both should go.

Ecstatic, actually.

What do you two want?

Straight to the point, I see. Might as well, then.
