[ No one questioned anything when William suddenly left his office that morning. "I've been called to a meeting" was all the information he gave the rest of Dispatch. To them, it wasn't surprising, seeing as he was the head of the department. For William, however, the summoning came with zero notice. As he made his way to the upper managements' offices, all he could wonder was what issue his subordinates caused that he'd have to clean up after, this time.

It wasn't until lunch break that William returned to Dispatch. The others expected they'd get reprimanded for something, but William remained quiet, his face expressionless as he closed the door to his office. ]

[ His frown momentarily returns thinking about how she would have tackled him. ]

I told you I would cook for us. I will have to if we don't want to eat out all the time.

Doesn't mean that you have to make my favourite meal.

[ She's looking at him as though he's the dreamiest man she's ever seen! (And, well, to her perspective, that isn't a stretch.) ]

I don't know what I can possibly do to make up for all the kindness you've given me.

I want to make certain you will eat it and it won't go to waste.

[ He pauses to return to his pancakes. ]

Behaving yourself from now on, for one.

[ Grell smiles, knowing better. Her expression falters, however; pulls into something of a grimace, even! Seems to be the best time to follow suit, in returning to her meal. ]

Well... Something realistic would be preferable.

[death_glare]

I want you to put in effort, at the very least.

[ He understands that it's just in her nature, though. ]

I will think on other things.

[untodeath]

[ There's a hum of agreement, around a mouthful of eggs. ]

I'm here, aren't I? Ready to start that stupid position...

[ Those last words drip from her lips like poison, as she pouts down at her plate. Time for some more pancakes, to smother those sorrows in fluffy goodness. ]

You are. And I'm honestly surprised. I thought you were going to put up much more of a fight.

[ The sausages on his plate don't last for long, nor the beans and toast. Seems he was pretty hungry after expelling all that energy last night. ]

And what would you do if I had?

[ Grell watches him with a little smirk plucking at her lips. Seeing William, always restrained, eat like a typical man... it's a bit endearing! ]

Been highly insulted.

[ With that gone, he neatly wipes his mouth and returns to his tea. ]

[ Grell chuckles, pushing around some of her beans with her fork. ]

You've managed to get me out of trouble countless times now. I have learnt to trust your judgement.

[death_glare]

Good. Let's not regress from this progress we've finally managed to make.

[untodeath]

[ She peers up at him over her glasses. ]

If I couldn't do it... Would you leave me?

[death_glare]

[ He meets her eyes for a spell before sighing heavily. ]

No. I'd help you along.

[untodeath]

What?

[ She asks of his sigh, laughing partly with nervousness. That, paired with his previous words, make her insecure. She can't help it. ]

Really?

[death_glare]

I came back for you and I intend to stay. Honestly, I don't expect you to become the model citizen. It wouldn't suit you, anyway. But I will help you stay afloat. We depend on one another, more than I realized before I'd left.

[untodeath]

[ Grell's eyes ease, lightly misty as she looks between his own, a more genuine smile touching her lips. ]

Thank you, Will.

[ Gaze falling back to her plate, she clears her throat, shaking her head! ]

Ah-- are you still hungry? I don't think I'll be finishing mine... [ She's already had one of the sausages and all her eggs, but there's just so many beans for her twisty tummy...!! ]

[ He reaches over to take her plate, but looks up once he's replaced his own with it. ]

You're welcome. I hope you will do the same for me, should I need your support.

[untodeath]

[ She still has her plate of pancakes to pick at, so she's wholly content to have him do so. Cheek partly squished up in her palm, she does just that, poking holes in what remains of her stack. ]

Darling, nothing could tear me away from you.

[death_glare]

[ He gives a calm nod that implies that he's thankful. Checking his watch, he clears Grell's plate, seeing they have little time left before she needs to report for training in her new department. ]

Finish those up, we have little time left.

Oh.

[ Well, then! Grell cuts the pancakes, taking one last heaping bite, before downing it with the remainder of her tea. She nods hastily, getting up from her seat while digging out her wallet! ]

[death_glare]

[ He stands beside her, reaching for his own wallet before he remembers he no longer has one. ]

Ah. Do you mind paying? I have yet to get my first paycheck. Seeing as they don't have currency in Heaven.

[ He states it as if it's a normal thing for someone to say with others around to hear. ]

[ Grell tries not to laugh, as she fingers through her wallet, grabbing enough for the tab and tip. She doesn't want to wait for the check. After, she walks up close to him, cupping his cheek as she kisses the other. ]

Not to worry, darling. I owe you.

[ She reaches for his hand as she walks past, headed for the door. ]

You'll be buying me dinner for quite some time, then.

[ It's teasing but he sounds all too serious. But he lets her take his hand as they exit the diner. It's just a short jump to the office, where he lets her hand go. He approaches the front desk, inquiring about where the custodial offices are located. ]

[ Though she's content that William is taking care of the niceties, reducing her chance at biting anyone's head off, she seems a bit surprised. Stays quiet, as he's given instructions, and her gaze wanders... The amount of stares that the two of them are getting is quite impressive.

With a flip of her hair, she diverts her attention back to Will as he finishes speaking with the front desk agent. ]

What, don't trust me to get there on my own? [ She asks with an amused little smile, leaning in to nudge his shoulder with hers. ]

I'm going with you regardless of my answer to that question.

[ William doesn't even bother acknowledging any of the people staring and whispering. He simply walks along side her, checking the office number and title plates as they pass them. He's never had to come to this area of headquarters, so it's new to him. ]
