Forgiven
[ No one questioned anything when William suddenly left his office that morning. "I've been called to a meeting" was all the information he gave the rest of Dispatch. To them, it wasn't surprising, seeing as he was the head of the department. For William, however, the summoning came with zero notice. As he made his way to the upper managements' offices, all he could wonder was what issue his subordinates caused that he'd have to clean up after, this time.
It wasn't until lunch break that William returned to Dispatch. The others expected they'd get reprimanded for something, but William remained quiet, his face expressionless as he closed the door to his office. ]

[ Well, then! Grell cuts the pancakes, taking one last heaping bite, before downing it with the remainder of her tea. She nods hastily, getting up from her seat while digging out her wallet! ]
no subject
Ah. Do you mind paying? I have yet to get my first paycheck. Seeing as they don't have currency in Heaven.
[ He states it as if it's a normal thing for someone to say with others around to hear. ]
no subject
Not to worry, darling. I owe you.
[ She reaches for his hand as she walks past, headed for the door. ]
Let's go♥
no subject
[ It's teasing but he sounds all too serious. But he lets her take his hand as they exit the diner. It's just a short jump to the office, where he lets her hand go. He approaches the front desk, inquiring about where the custodial offices are located. ]
no subject
With a flip of her hair, she diverts her attention back to Will as he finishes speaking with the front desk agent. ]
What, don't trust me to get there on my own? [ She asks with an amused little smile, leaning in to nudge his shoulder with hers. ]
no subject
[ William doesn't even bother acknowledging any of the people staring and whispering. He simply walks along side her, checking the office number and title plates as they pass them. He's never had to come to this area of headquarters, so it's new to him. ]
no subject
I'm not complaining, but...
[ She's unfamiliar with the area, as well. It's all long hallways and closed doors. Not the sort of space that one would acquaint themselves with, unless they had to. ]
no subject
[ Finding the office, he holds the door open for her. ]
no subject
You don't have to subject yourself to this. You know, boredom. Potential ridicule. And whatnot...
[ But with a mighty breath, she visibly steels herself to walk through... only to be faced with the most depressed looking folks she's seen in a while. A grimace of a smile settles uncomfortably onto her lips. ]
no subject
[ It may be boring, but it beats his old job any day of the week. ]
Honestly, do you think I care at all what the others may say about us? They can all bugger off.
no subject
Grell Sutcliffe, reporting for duty... I imagine they warned you I was coming.
[ There are two gentlemen in the room, and neither look too impressed. The one that takes initiative in addressing her, one could assume to be her boss, nods his head in the direction of the unused jumpsuits hanging on the wall. He briefly informs her to get dressed, and that she'd be aiding Earl for the day to learn the ropes. Also, that he personally has things to do-- and excuses himself not moments later.
Grell tilts her head, eyes rolling as they land back on William. ]
Well then... Care to zip me, supervisor?
no subject
Just get your uniform on.
[ He looks to this Earl fellow, who doesn't seem all that pleased at having to train someone, especially not this someone. He asks William why he's here, and all he answers with is that someone needs to keep him in line. And that he doubts either of them would be able to.
The day progresses as Grell is shown the proper way to sweep, mop, change out trash bins and even scrub toilets in the bathrooms. It's a fair bit harder than one would have thought, considering the size of the complex. William tags along the entire time, idly reading a magazine he'd picked up from the cafeteria as they passed by. But he gives Grell a look every so often, a warning not to talk back to her new coworker. ]
no subject
Hearing another snicker from a former colleague as he squeezes past to the exit, Grell nearly throws the toilet scrubber back into the cart. It never quite got on her nerves before, but somehow, she's just losing patience today. Perhaps it's knowing that she hit bottom. Or perhaps it's knowing that he probably made a mess of the toilet she'd just cleaned. ]
How much more is there to do?!
no subject
William stands by the door, absently watching as she cleans up. It's when a scrub brush slips out of her hands from all the soap that he comes over and retrieves it for her. ]
Here. It oddly pleasing, finishing on time.
no subject
Her shoulders merely slump with tired defeat, once she's dropped that brush-- but it's suddenly returned to her peripheral vision, which briefly earns a perplexed look! But, ah, there's William to save the day one more.
Expression softening, she even manages a little lopsided smile, as she accepts it back. ]
Well. That much is nice, I suppose.
no subject
[ Sounding to reassuring, even he finds it odd. But potentially cheering her up feels...nice. This isn't whiny, spoiled Grell who just doesn't feel like filling out her paperwork. She's honestly defeated. He can't deny that the sight bothers him. ]
no subject
Normally, I'd say that I'm tired just thinking about it... but...
[ She shoots him a glance. ]
I don't know. Doing some everyday-- couple things might actually be-- nice?
[ Speaking of odd... ]
no subject
It shouldn't take too long. You can settle in to bed once we're back, if you need to.
no subject
Oh, please. It's mentally exhausting. I'd have to be quite out of shape to say otherwise! [ A strong shake of the head follows. ] which will be never.
no subject
Stop. You're still on the clock. Besides, mental exhaustion can sometimes be worse.
no subject
Oh, please. Who am I going to offend, the scrub brushes? [ She hooks her tongue over a pointy tooth, unable to resist. ] I just need some proper stimulation. I can think of someone who might be able to help.
no subject
Finish up. We'll discuss such things at home.
no subject
Fine, fiiine. Home it is!
[ Hands now dried, she uses the towel to turn off the faucet, before leaving it at the basin's edge to dry.
She unfasten the belt around her waist, relocating it to drape around her neck, and unbuttons her jumper on the way to her locker. By the time she's arrived to it, shes able to step out of the garment, and swap it out for the blazer she's left inside. ]
Am I still pretty enough for a store run?
no subject
[ A roundabout way of saying 'yes', but it's something! He waits at the doorway to the office, noting a few more agents who do a double take when they see him. He makes brief eye contact before they lose his interest and he checks his watch impatiently. ]
no subject
[ She calls after him - but once he's gone, she'll chuckle to herself.
Not long after, she'll skip up to plant her feet beside him, arms slipping around one of his. ]
Well, are you ready?
