[ Graduating from the reaper academy was nothing to brag about. Sure you gained some skills and were granted permission to customize your glasses and scythe, but beyond that, all that was in the newly trained reapers' future was tedious, unavoidable work encased within long nights of depression and regret. Unlike mortal graduations that were followed by celebration, reapers were informed of how they came to be, what was expected of them, should they wish to redeem themselves, and then shown their personal cinematic records. Forced to relive the pain of their mortal lives. To say it's a traumatic experience is a vast understatement.

William stands alone in his newly assigned, permanent flat. It's barely furnished, with just the essentials, no life or personality to be seen. All that's playing through his mind is his record. A horrific thing to rewatch, certainly, but somehow it was made more painful by a fear that had been newly established. He's suddenly feeling sick from the thoughts and has to exit the apartment to collect himself. Glancing up, he sees a brief flicker of bright red at the end of the hall, and before he can stop himself he's following after it. ]

[ Indeed, Grell immediately scoots closer, curling one arm under her pillow, as the other rests beneath her chin. She's removed her glasses, but they're close enough that she can make out William somewhat! ]

What a day we've had...

[ He seems hesitant to remove his own as his eyesight is deplorable, but it would be worse to need them repaired should he break them. He sets them down on the nightstand before setting about getting comfortable. Though he tends to sleep on his back, he decides facing his companion for the evening would be a better choice. ]

Rather mentally exhausting.

[ The redheaded reaper hums in agreement - and now that the other can't see her, and she's relaxed beside him, her features have softened considerably! ]

Now, that is an understatement. [ She chuckles, breath lulling into a pause. ] How have you been feeling, by the way? Since-- you know, we'd concluded our assignment.

I assume you're referring to those cinematic record ribbons?

[ That wasn't a pleasing moment, at all. ]

Honestly, I have hardly slept. I keep seeing Thomas Wallis' life running through my mind.

[ A sound of distaste leaves her. ]

Talented as he was, I never would have expected that. Hm. The afterlife is truly testing you, you poor man.

Yet we've hardly been here any time, at all.

[ He lets out a rather frustrated sigh. ]

Yes, well, fortunately for you, the discourse I'd caused would make the rest quite simple, in comparison.

[ She hums in agreement with herself, though she can't completely eliminate her amusement from it. ]

Soon, you'll wonder where all the excitement has gone!

[ He hesitates on his next comment. ]

I may need your erratic personality to keep me from closing in on myself entirely.

[ Grell's lashes flutter, chest tightening. To be acknowledged for something beyond superficial desires... It's a new feeling, being needed, and something she's unknowingly pinged for, she thinks.

Swallowing quietly as she may - as she can't have him know that she's fazed in the slightest! - she searches for his hand with gentle fingertips, and upon finding it, takes it into her own. ]

Something tells me that I'll need you to keep me from straying too far, as well.

[ If William was one to chuckle, he may have done so just then. ]

That sounds near impossible, but I will take that as permission to step in before you mess something up.

[ His hand fidgets in hers for a moment before it stills, allowing the contact. ]

[ For a moment, she thinks he'll pull away, so she's quite content with that - enough so, that she'll give his hand a fond little squeeze! ]

[ He doesn't squeeze back, but he doesn't protest either. Her skin is not only soft but warm. It's rather pleasing. ]

[ That's alright, it isn't going to deter her! In fact, she'll scoot a bit closer, nestling down to rest her forehead against his. ]

[ Literally not being able to see her coming, he startles slightly. ]

[ A affirmative hum follows her snicker. ]

I must. [ Closing her eyes, she sighs contently! ]

[ Ok, if she's not going to take his comment as a way of telling her to ease off, he'll just roll back over onto his back. ]

Oh, come now...

[ You can just hear the pout in her voice, and she follows with a huff! She'll pull her hand back as it was, nestled under her chin, assuming he's had enough of that. ]

[ He huffs right back. ]

I thought you were going to try and kiss me. I could have simply shoved your face away.

[ The thought of that is pretty funny. In fact, her lips very slightly twinge into a smile! She's not going to let him know that, though. ]

[ With how casually he responds, Grell has to rethink his words to be certain that he's actually agreed to kissing her! ]

Well, I won't know one way or the other, until you do.

[ Scooting closer, her hand finds his chest, idly grasping at his shirt. ]
