Forgiven

[ No one questioned anything when William suddenly left his office that morning. "I've been called to a meeting" was all the information he gave the rest of Dispatch. To them, it wasn't surprising, seeing as he was the head of the department. For William, however, the summoning came with zero notice. As he made his way to the upper managements' offices, all he could wonder was what issue his subordinates caused that he'd have to clean up after, this time.

It wasn't until lunch break that William returned to Dispatch. The others expected they'd get reprimanded for something, but William remained quiet, his face expressionless as he closed the door to his office. ]

Oh, bed. [ The response is immediate, leading into a wholly content sigh at the thought! ]

Going through all this trouble for me... It's sweet, you know.

[ Holding the bag to her chest as she wiggles out of her blanket to stand, she peeks after him before heading toward the bedroom. ]

[ The two bottles of juice in hand, he follows along. The drinks are set on his bedside table as he attempts to pile up his pillows well enough to support sitting up in bed. ]

Perhaps it's merely being an angel now, but I feel far more inclined to be than ever before. Or to show it, that is.

Is that what it is...

[ Once William appears to be satisfied with his setup, she crawls under the covers, and plops the bag down on her knees. ]

Not that I'm complaining, but I was hoping there might be something else, too.

I've already admitted that I care about you. Even before I was forgiven. So, you better not complain, even in the slightest.

[ Choosing the apple juice for himself, he hands the other to Grell and waits for his muffin. ]

I've said that I'm not.

[ As though to prove it, she hands him the chocolate - accompanied by a swift kiss to the cheek! ]

[ That gets him to pause in taking the muffin, but he quickly blinks and gives her a side look. Though, that doesn't last long once he realizes which muffin she's handed to him. ]

Did you not want the chocolate one?

[ Ah, perfect. Grell giggles fondly, settling back with a self-satisfied smile and a shake of the head. ]

I was only teasing, Will. I know how fond you are of your chocolate!

Ah. Thank you.

[ One of the few times he's thanked her for something. He settles down, as well, unwrapping the bottom of the muffin and separating it from the crunchier top. The top gets saved for last! ]

[ The lengths he'll go to for chocolate! Shaking her head in amusement, she finds herself watching him with curiosity. ]

Hm. [ Interesting approach - but she'll bit right into the top of hers, closing her eyes with a satisfied hum. Popping off the top of her juice, she'll take a swig to wash it down. ] I suppose you can tell a lot about someone by the treatment of their pastries.

[ William frowns at the random comment, slightly lost as to what the hell she's talking about. ]

What are you on about?

[ Grell licks over her smiling lips. ]

You find it important to practice self-restraint, and thinks that it makes your spoils all the sweeter, in the end.

[ She nods at the muffin top he's carefully set aside. Meanwhile, she peels back the liner, turning the muffin upside-down to nibble at its bottom, next. ]

I... don't.

I didn't need to see you eat a raspberry muffin to know that about you.

[ Shaking his head at her absurd analogy, he finally takes a bite of the bottom of his own muffin. The chocolaty flavour has him closing his eyes in satisfaction. ]

[ That gets the redhead to laugh trough a mouth full of food, a hand hovering over pressed lips. Her posture teeters, shoulder coming to rest against William's. ]

Mm, you've made a fine choice, you know. The best dinner I've had in some time!

[death_glare]

[ That may be the first time he's made her laugh! Letting her remain there, he finishes his bite before responding. ]

That doesn't say much about your eating habits. We'll have to improve those.

Well, I can't argue that.

[ She picks out a larger chunk of raspberry to savor on its own.]

My options have been rather limited, considering how dreadful I am at cooking.

You could have asked.

[ He, too, savors the next bite, even enjoying the way it tastes along side the apple juice he'd bought. ]

I'm certain Humphries would have taught you something if you had.

[ Grell thinks that over for a moment, humming with a knuckle pressed to her lips. ]

I don't know about that. Pride aside, I was already too much trouble.

He has plenty of patience, he may have been able to teach you something before getting fed up.

[ Even William can't help licking off the bit of chocolate that remains on his fingers! ]

[ Earning a faintly amused sound from her, the redhead shoves the last bite into her mouth.

Perhaps he's right, maybe Alan would have felt obligated to accept; however, she still has her doubts! Putting up fronts as she did came at the expense of any potential relationships. No one respects her, no less wishes to sacrifice time for her, she's sure.

Disposing of her trash at the bedside table, she nestles back against William whist coddling her bottle of juice. ]

Well, I've got you, now. That's fine by me.

Don't expect me to cook for you every night.

[ Of course she's already finished with her own meal and snuggling up to him again. With a huff, William finally gets to work on that crispy muffin top. ]

And I'm certainly not teaching you anything either.

[ With a swig of her juice, she settles her cheek against the side of his shoulder with a most content hum. ]

Really, I'm fortunate enough just to have you back with me. That you should care for me at all leaves me over the moon~

As long as you appreciate it, and respect it, then I don't mind doing so.

[ Why did they never come to terms on these things before? He's quiet for a bit before giving a contemplating hum. ]

This whole thing... it is really rather depressing once you think on it.

Of course I do, Will.

[ As though to prove it, she scoops an arm around his to give a fond squeeze! Or, perhaps it's just her being selfish again-- but she really can't help it, wanting to give him affection, especially now. But if he truly dislikes it, perhaps she should really stop...

And so, she slowly pulls herself away to sit upright, gathering some of the blanket against her chest, instead. ]

...Mm? [ Her gaze turns to him curiously. ] I mean, I suppose so. But what makes you say as much?

Just thinking on a lot of things since being forgiven. Without all the responsibility to occupy my mind, it's near unavoidable.

[ He's not sure if that's good or bad, really. ]

Well, come on, then!

[ Wiggling her shoulders back into the pillows, she looks at him expectantly. ]

Let's hear it. It's the least I could do.
