[ Grell doesn't quite avoid the sight of him, but rather, ignores him! No attempt to meet his eyes with a loving glance, not even an inappropriate comment. She might as well have forgotten who he was-- that is, until one of her teammates catches sight of the boy, as they're preparing to take position on their brooms.
Well, look who it is! Your lover-boy! They say through laughter - but, immediately, Grell swings her bat up to knock the head of his broom handle up, sending him spinning in the air and screeching. ]
[ It's hard not to notice Grell's teammate suddenly shrieking as his broom gets thrown off balance. But all William does in response is shake his head and roll his eyes, then it's back to ignoring. Even the starting handshake between the different team players involves him purposefully choosing the other Slytherin beater over Grell! ]
[ Just as well, because Grell makes a point to be on the opposite side of the line! (Although, she does still find herself gritting her teeth with jealousy - leaving her with an aggressive grin that has the Slytherin boy shaking HER hand leaving as soon as he gets the chance.
As soon as the match begins, Grell is soaring towards the Bludger. Anyone in her way might find themselves backhanded by her bat, pummelled by the ball, or even shoved out of the way! Including William! ]
[ Thankfully, they've play enough games against one another that William's learned Grell's patterns for flying. If she gets too close, he's quick to zip away, and even smack the bludger back her way! ]
[ The challenge nudges Grell toward a significantly better mood - but, alas, she is just as stubborn as William, and thrice as reckless. Everyone else has grown so accustomed to the redhead focusing her attention on William, the rest is unpredictable! She's an absolute terror to handle, and many are throwing some choice words around the field.
Rather than pelt the ball back at William, she plays keepaway, throwing it at unsuspecting chasers from the opposing team! ]
[ The game ends in a Gryffindor victory, something Slytherins are never keen on. And once back in the locker rooms, changing and cleaning up from the game, William's teammates have quite a bit to say about his sudden inability to distract Grell from landing all those attacks.
William ends up leaving them behind, not caring about their opinions on Grell, or at least not wanting to care. Since when was it his job alone to take care of her? It leaves him in a more sour mood than usual as he makes his way to the dining hall for a late lunch. ]
[ On his way out, Grell catches his eye with a quirk of her brow. She opens her mouth to compliment him on his skill, but stops herself short, shortly clearing her throat and looking away!
She waits until he's gone to approach the Slytherin housemates who'd been giving him a hard time. ]
Hello, boys... [ Hands on her waist, she rolls her shoulders back, chin raising with a distasteful sneer. ] So, what's this you had to say about me, hn? [ She cuts off their snide remarks by slamming one of their lockers closed! ] I belong to no one.
[ Later, when she arrives to the dining hall, she's got scuffed knuckles and a good scrape on her cheek, but looks quite proud of herself! ]
[ It doesn't take long for William to find out what went down in the locker room after he'd left. Mainly because the surviving players wasted no time informing him on how he was to blame for this, as well. Seems like they didn't learn their lesson!
William's not having it, though. And on seeing Grell enter the dining hall, looks his captain dead in the eye. ]
I suggest you figure out how to deal with them yourself, then, as I won't be playing anymore.
[ With that he excuses himself from the Slytherin table, walking towards where Grell is seated at her own house's. ]
[ Grell's team is in a largely celebratory mood, willingly ignoring her behaviour in favour of assisting them in their win. She seems to be more interested in her meal, however; with a half a mouthful's worth of food, the redhead meets the sight of William. Setting down her fork, she leans into an elbow, concealing her mouth with a napkin.
Why is he here? To yell at her, she presumes. She only quirks her brow high with inquiry!! ]
[ William sits down beside her, as if it wasn't unusual at all. Then, without a word, set about fixing himself a new plate of food from the selection in front of him. Oh and he's quite careful about where he places his cup of tea, this time! ]
[ Blinking, Grell tilts her head, furrows her brow-- she is thoroughly confused, and it shows! While she has half a mind to tell him off for giving her emotional whiplash, it isn't as though she doesn't want him around. She might be stubborn, but she also knows what she wants!
So she presses her lips shut and passes him the dinner rolls, instead. ]
[ He takes the offered basket, picking out a roll. He remains quiet while he takes his time buttering it, but finally speaks up as he sets his knife aside. ]
Honestly, did you need to send two of my teammates to the infirmary?
[ As she isn't entirely certain where to go with conversation, it's a relief that William speaks up first - and she can't help but snerk a bit, even! ]
Absolutely. I can't have anyone misplacing credit for my actions.
[ Even though he expected an over the top reaction, he still huffs at the fuss she's making. ]
I see no reason to play with a team that thinks I'm only good for one thing. If they're going to berate me any time you prove yourself in the pitch, then they can find someone else to keep you under control.
William, don't quit because of me--! Goodness, if... [ She goes from looking guilty to positively angry. ] If they didn't get the hint last time, I'll just have to pound it into their tiny brains!!
[ She pushes herself up to climb over the bench! ]
[ With a bat of her lashes, she settles down into her place on the bench. ]
I mean. It has been a few years, you know. [ She raises her chin a bit with some playful indigence. Her mouth twitches into a smile. ] Still, I'll be better.

Not. Another. WORD. He's no one!

[ He'll let her decipher that as he takes a handful of crisps and adds them to his plate. ]
no subject
That almost sounded like a compliment, Will.
[ In contrast, she's nearly finished her main course and begins eyeing the cake for tonight's dessert! ]
Don't you worry, though. I haven't got it in my mind to ignore you forever. Games against you do tend to be my favourite.
no subject
That's unfortunate, as I won't be playing any longer.

Stop it. That's not going to help anything. Besides, you'll end up with detention if you keep beating up on people.
no subject
Well... What else can I do to convince you to stay on the team?
no subject
[ Vague, of course. Is he referring to letting him rejoin on his own time or something else? ]
no subject
Patience with what? If you mean tolerating those boys picking on you, that's going to be quite difficult.
