[ Graduating from the reaper academy was nothing to brag about. Sure you gained some skills and were granted permission to customize your glasses and scythe, but beyond that, all that was in the newly trained reapers' future was tedious, unavoidable work encased within long nights of depression and regret. Unlike mortal graduations that were followed by celebration, reapers were informed of how they came to be, what was expected of them, should they wish to redeem themselves, and then shown their personal cinematic records. Forced to relive the pain of their mortal lives. To say it's a traumatic experience is a vast understatement.
William stands alone in his newly assigned, permanent flat. It's barely furnished, with just the essentials, no life or personality to be seen. All that's playing through his mind is his record. A horrific thing to rewatch, certainly, but somehow it was made more painful by a fear that had been newly established. He's suddenly feeling sick from the thoughts and has to exit the apartment to collect himself. Glancing up, he sees a brief flicker of bright red at the end of the hall, and before he can stop himself he's following after it. ]
Grell Sutcliffe?

Grell Sutcliffe?

Why are you interested in my that way anyway? We hardly know one another.
no subject
Hardly know one another? So glad to know that you've valued our time together on assignment.

[ He gives her an annoyed look right back. ]
no subject
What did I just say about that? I made a mistake-- which I won't admit to again, so you'd do well to get it through your head this time!
no subject
[ Frustrated, he fixes his glasses before snatching up his coffee mug. ]
Then, I suppose we are making up for lost time now.
no subject
You know, I didn't think you would care, to be quite honest.
no subject
[ Somehow her comment makes him feel the slightest bit embarrassed. He clears his throat to regain his train of thought. ]
I suppose even someone like myself needs a companion.
no subject
[ She slides her plate over. The last bite. ]
no subject
[ He will accept that offering of cake with a pleased hum. ]
I wouldn't mind spending some more time together after we finish here. Honestly, I would rather be around someone than not.
no subject
I... feel much the same. [ A crooked little grin. ] But, since you won't let me take you home, then the destination is up to you.
no subject
[ The waiter comes to clean up their plates and hands them the bill. ]
no subject
Now? [ She quirks her brow, sliding him the bill to see. ]
no subject
That is not an honest thing to do.
no subject
[ She shrugs. ]
We've plenty of time to make up for it, don't you think?
no subject
[ He takes his wallet out and puts down his half. ]
You do what you wish for yours.
no subject
Boring.
[ Tossing the money onto the table, she stand up to replace her wallet into her pocket, and offers her hand to William. ]

It isn't anything remarkable. The layout is just the same as William's, as is the provided furniture and linens. The only difference is how it's been lived in. It isn't precisely untidy, but things have been moved around to her liking, books litter the coffee table, and such. ]
Feel free to use the chair for your coat, if you like.
[ Nodding toward one in the living area, she's already shrugging hers off! ]
no subject
Your place already has more life to it than mine.
no subject
Oh? [ She shoots him a curious glance, before looking around at what she's done. ] You've left yours as it was given to you, I take it?
no subject
[ He sounds a bit saddened at that fact. ]
no subject
Even so, she seems quite content with that, as she returns to show it off to William. ]
I've got-- an idea. We take this to your place, and we move about every damn belonging you have, until it starts to feel like home.
no subject
I don't know that it will help much, but we can try.
[ His turn to offer his hand! ]
no subject
Once they're in his apartment, she doesn't let go - instead, without missing a beat, she pulls him into the kitchen. ]
We will start in here. Might as well, since we need the glasses!
no subject
I don't have proper glasses, so we'll have to make do.
[ He indicates what cabinet they're in before realising he also doesn't have a cork screw. So once he's set the bottle down he finally pulls his hand free and summons his new scythe. ]
If you hold the bottle I should be able to remove the cork with this.
